Top 10 Service Holiday Tips

Make Care Packages for children admitted to local shelters or hospitals. Include toys, magazines, books, crayons, paper, stickers or homemade decorations. Wrap your items in small boxes to create gifts to cheer their day.

Help a Senior Citizen -- So many seniors would enjoy a hand from someone younger. You can help with chores around the house or yard. Even taking a dog for a walk may be a blessing for some. How about teaching them how to surf the Internet? A few lessons from a young person would go a long way (I personally rely on kids for computer help on a regular basis!).

Donate a plant -- Many shutins don't have many pretty things to look at or care for. . . a plant may work wondering for happiness. Also, many programs online will reforest rainforests and other areas that need new trees if you donate a tree to their cause.

Do a good deed for each of the 12 days of Christmas -- Yes, do 12 good things for other people, one each day of the Christmas season!

Donate Boxed Gifts for Missions -- Organizations such as Operation Christmas Child collect shoeboxes filled with gifts for Children in 3rd world countries. Help your church and club collect boxes for several kids. It inexpensive and a lot of fun to do!

Visit an elderly shut in -- No extra money? No extra clothes? No great skills to donate? No problem! Your most precious gift can be your time. There are people in nursing homes and hospitals who don't have enough friends in their life.

Donate to a Third World Country -- ADRA's Really useful gift catalog offers gifts in numerous denominations that can save a life, provide education, income, and housing for families and children in blighted parts of our world. More Info. . .

Bake Cookies for a neighbor -- A new friend could be next door.

Donate to area charities -- check with your local police department, radio station, or salvation army to find needs in your community

Pick up litter wherever you find it. A local park or church property may really appreciate your help. Just ask.
