Prospective Pathfinder Recruitment Tips June 2005 The Pathfinder year is over, but many Pathfinder Directors and staff are already planning for next year. Here are some quick tips to help you in attracting prospective Pathfinders.

Recruiting Ideas:

Visit Constituent School(s)

-- Visit your constituent school(s) in both the spring and fall, giving a SHORT and CONCISE presentation of what Pathfinders is all about. Make sure you know what you're going to say before you go so that you can most clearly communicate to the KIDS what is exciting about Pathfinders

Hold an information session prior to Pathfinder Registration -- This session allows parents to ask questions and to get all the forms that they need to register. Some clubs have been successful having this information session at the end of the school day at the constituent school(s).
Recruit Pathfinders to help you recruit new Pathfinders -- Happy Pathfinders talking about what they've enjoyed in Pathfinders is your BEST ADVERTISING. Take your articulate and positive Pathfinders along with you, but encourage them to prepare their "speech" or "interview" prior to the event.
Recruit with Pathfinders/Staff -- Pathfinders relate to people they like / that they feel similar to. This includes recruiting with those that are similar (gender / ethnic background) to your target audience. We all can relate to people that seem similar to us.
Hold "Introduction Events" during the summer -- These events should be high energy and demonstrate the types of activities they can expect to experience in Pathfinders. Some clubs have even let these "soon-to-be Pathfinders" earn AY Honors that they receive at their FIRST meeting as a Pathfinder.
