Everyone's....what? Views? Ideas? Thoughts?

I like some of it. Third Day and DC Talk are some of by favorite bands. I don't like all of it though. Some of the music doesn't come across as reverent or worshipful (like my new word?) in anyways.

Those are my thoughts.

Christian rock - what an oxymoron. :?

It all depends on how the music is played - worshipful or headbanging...get my drift?

i think its a good thing...it is a form of worship...but when ppl start to label things as christian rock when they have lyrics that dont support that statement...we begin to have a problem

other then that... :D i think..

pray about it

I listen to some of it. But the others think the same way that I do. If the lyrics don't support the Christian part of it. I don't feel comfortable. And none of these love songs that never mention God, but try to make you think that's what they mean... If you're making a love song to God, put His name in there, otherwise, it's just for another human.

My 2 cents....

I completely agree! I think it's so wrong to make a song that, if someone who didn't know it was "Christian" listened to it, they wouldn't know that it was. I could name a ton of Christian songs that never mention God's name once! What's the point of calling them "Christian"? There are several songs that I hear on both secular and Christian radio stations--why? Because you can't tell the difference!

I posted an answer in another area that may well fit this one as well.

In theory, music is all about what you want out of it. But, I don't believe that. Much of modern (namely pop, rock, r&b, etc.) music us based on exciting beats. These beats subconsciously give you a trance-like effect. You don't really think about the words, which many people say is the entire problem. Instead, you are listening to the beat. Unfortunately, subconsciously you are drinking in the very words that you think you are ignoring. Your brain stores everything you hear and see. It doesn't matter whether or not you are consciously paying attention to words of the song. Also, often times the mind wanders idly while the music is going.

Country music has a soothing sound instead of a steady beat. Surprisingly enough, even classical music also has a trance-like effect.

I work as a security guard. I have often walked into an elevator and been talking on the radio. I wouldn't even hear the elevator music going, but after I got out of the elevator and wasn't talking on the radio, I found my brain repeating the elevator music that I "hadn't heard."

The devil doesn't create music specifically for the purpose of "infecting us." The devil simply uses the ability of music to put us into a trance and the idleness of our brain to gain entrance into our minds to pollute it with sinful thoughts.

I am not saying that all music is bad, but that all music can be used inappropriately and have the wrong effect on us.

ADDED: Christian rock is much like many other types of music. It all depends on what you want to get out of it.
