Yep, I know how that goes! Every time something is going wrong with microphones or something to that extent, quite a few people look back at, or later blame the PA/AV guys! Kind of sad. :? Sometimes it's not their fault at all either!

Yeah, it really frustrates me when the we are using wireless microphones, and the people up front don't realize that they need to be turned on. Then everyone starts looking at me, and there is nothing I can do. Except try to get the person to find the power switch. sheesh....

Yeah I know. At our church, too, the microphones can't be straight up-and-down or they start getting a negative feedback from the speakers above, and they start to squeal. So you have to be really careful to tell the people not to do that! :)

But we can be Christlike and be patient with and kind to people, even though they may blame us, right? :P

of course... It is hard sometimes, but we should always just roll with the "punches" and turn the other cheek. So you know, it's not like it will never happen again, so we should just get over, and get the show on the road... :P

New A/V dude in town! It really isn't as hard as all the knobs would lead you to believe. I'm running a 16 channel board. :)

This past weekend I was running a 40 channel board at church. We had all but 17 channels filled, but only ended up using ten of them because of a miscommunication. We were told we needed more of a set up than we actually did. You gotta be ready for that though. Better to have more than needed than less, and oh yes, our creed at SAU AV...

If they know that we are there working, we aren't doing our jobs right. But if they have no idea that we exsist, we're doing it right.

No glory, but who needs that anyway... just makes your head swell like a baloon.

My church is small. The previous A/V teen told me before he moved away to college that you gain the respect of everyone because everyone assumes it is so complicated. (Don't know if that's true for other churches, though)

Heh, two weeks ago we only used three channels. I was away on vacation, as was my firend who I work with. Somebody had left the lapel on the previous week and we didn't have batteries. But luckily the speaker was preaching inclined and stayed next to the podium for the entirety of his sermon :smt109

Yup, AV is pretty cool.

yes, but haven't been able to do it in a while. I intend to get back into it here relatively soon though! It is one of the most fun things in the word(along with outdoor activities and other technology)! :D

I just gained the wonder of running the sound booth at my academy, unfortunately it's a tad crowded. It gives me something to do during our chapel talks!

Yes, now at our school it's week of prayer! Good for three reasons, you get a really good speaker, shorter classes, and pretty much only AV people have something to do instead of sit around.

I'm having fun looking through all our stuff and figuring out what I can do... There are so many different adapters and cables just sitting around. Also as much as this is audio, I like doing alot of the visual! Setting up videos and such is great fun. It seems like it'd be fun to set up lights for a big concert or something!

Our church previewed some new speakers, but they were horrible. Lucky me got to run sound during that service... it was awful... definitely not something I want to do again....

Word of advice, don't try new things DURING a program, try them before... it just makes life easier... but then again, I'm not in charge at my church, so I can't make that decision....

It is the crew that runs the lights and sound for Church services!

I run the Audio at my church every third week....its pretty cool. I hate trying to find feedback though, it never shows up where i think it should. :( lol. they (the AV coordinators) are trying to get me to give them another week to do Video also, but i can barely get to church consistently every three weeks to do my Audio turn. (i go to church every sabbath, but with the School music groups i'm in, i'm away alot. I'm in my school's select choir, choir, band, and jazz band. it turns insane very fast.)

The worst part about sharing a sound board with others is that each has their own way of doing things. I always have to reconfigure the board when I run sound. I refuse to do the visual part at my service. I know it is part of the service, but I have enough to do with sound to add video and stuff to my list. As for lights, nobody does that (just flip the switches on when you walk in the door to set up).

lol, thats what i struggle with also. Everyone like to do something different for the sound board....so i have to reset it every week from scratch. The biggest problem is that my church shares the AV stuff with a sunday church and the sunday church is constantly blowing out channels and stuff. it gets really frustrating to have set up a channel, then have to change it cause it doesnt work. oh well. :)
