I mentioned this in another thread, and fish suggested that it warranted a thread of its own.

Any time you have any fundraiser that uses an order form, it pays to customize the form so you can add a "Donation" line item. A lot of people are more intersted in helping your cause than they are in buying wrapping paper or whatever it is you're selling. The "donation" line item on the form lets them express this.

The profit margin on that line item is 100%. In our last fund raiser, one individual wrote in $100 there. The first time I did this, one person donated $500 there. Had the line item not been there, the donation would not have been made.

You have not because you ask not. (James 4:2)

I read this post in its original thread and felt that as many people as possible should read it. I know many clubs do not use "for sale" fundraisers any more but many do, and this is a way to make them more effective if you do them. When people do not feel they will have to buy something (especially something they do not need) then they are more apt to give. In fact many people are happy if not thrilled to give and get nothing back, for those people it is always a good idea to provide them an outlet for doing so.

God Bless,
