I have an old copy of a book that has classic Camporee events in it.
Things like knot relays, tent pitching, and my favorite - catch the snapper.
Is there an updated version of this book?

What are some of your favorite events :?: :?:

Ahhhh, the memories of Conference camporee events....

I remember the first conference camporee I went to - it was way back in 99 when my brother was a pathfinder as well. We took part in the shelter race, where you have to build a shelter using 3 poles tied together securely, covered with ponchos which wouldn't leak after 5 gallons of water was dunked onto the shelter. We were the only team that didn't get wet! It was so exciting.

The 16-pt. compass relay and the knot tying relay were my favorites as a Teen Pathfinder.

As a junior, I tried the "bake bread on a stick" event, yuck, hadn't practiced enough, mine was all raw in the center. . . Guess it wasn't as bad as some, I got a 2nd place (meaning medium quality since all got ribbons in Ga-Cumb Conf.) for my trouble.

Fun stuff.

As part of a group that plans Camporees, new events are always needed. Is there an updated "Events Book"? We are looking for new events or new ways to do old events.

The build a shelter and see if you can stay dry is interesting.

We did a food eating relay called Feed the Baby. Pathfinders do a relay run back and forth to a jar of baby food and a spoon that is held by the baby (club director). The baby food is "fed" to the director one spoonfull at a time by each runner. Most of the time, more food is on the face of the director than is eaten. A trash bag bib is a must.
The youth love it. The directors not so much. At least we let the director bring their favorite flavor. We could have furnished beets for the event.

Mr. Mike

Would you mind posting some of the information from the book Mr. Mike?

There is not an updated version of this book yet, although there has been talk of updating it. Today I borrowed a copy to look at. I may even be willing to show it to you veternpathfinder sometime. (Maybe).

Hey, I wouldn't mind looking at it sometime either. If you could bring it to a meeting or something... that would be great!!!

For those that would like to see the Pathfinder Camporee & Fair Manual, I have put it online. I didn't see any copyright information and it is out of print so hopefully it will be OK to do that.
