THE LOST PIN

Once again I sit with my Pathfinder uniform in my lap getting ready for a meeting to be held in full dress uniform. As usual, I struggle to get the Friend pin straight in the row with the other class pins. Today, the Master Guide insignia just does not look centered over the button, even after several stabs at the pocket flap. Finally, all the pins are correct except one. My baptismal pin is not in the storage box with the other pins. Once again it is missing. Last week I lost my baptismal pin again. I am not careless with my pin; I know exactly where it is. About now, my pin is being put on another uniform. The pin will be proudly displayed on the uniform pocket of the latest baptized member of our church.

When I became director of our Pathfinder club, I started presenting a baptismal pin to each member of the club when they were baptized. The first time it happened, I did not have time to get a pin from the Youth Department, so I presented my pin to the newly baptized Pathfinder. I take another new pin from the plastic bag and remove it from the cardboard and place it on my uniform next to my heart. I pray I will soon lose this one too.

wow......

That's a truly awesome story :) They now have a black bar (i think it's a name tag plate) that all the class pins are attached to> I think it is available through Adventsource :) *hugs*

I personally think the black piece of plastic looks tacky.

Mr. Mike

PS. I don't have that much trouble with the pin placement, it was just part of the story.

The current club director has "lost" three pins so far this year.
It would be nice if it would happen in this generation.
A few of those "lost" pins may soon get passed down to the next generation.

The practice of loosing baptismal pins has gone conference wide now.
It is a great thrill to watch pins get "lost" at Camporees.

Mr. Mike

great story... I accidentally lost one of my Pathfinder's pins :( but not the way you were talking about. Somehow during the washing period of Class A uniforms, I lost his. So I had to replace it with mine when he pointed it out. Oops... not the same, but I'm glad that I had to replace one rather than not have any to replace ;)

And I agree about the tacky plastic. Where did you get the ribbon holder? Local air force base, huh? Know if they're available online anywhere or at ebay?

I lost another pin at Investiture this year.
I frankly have lost count of how many of my pins I have given to newly baptized Pathfinders.
I plan to just keep doing what I can to help them make the decision and will then give them a pin.

We "lose" our baptismal pins too, when a pathfinder is baptized. Some of our Pathfinders have even chosen to be baptized in their uniforms.

Lost another pin at an Investure this morning in Hope, Arkansas.
This pin was only on my uniform once.

It is so nice to see the Pathfinder Youth accept and stand for the Lord :!: :!: :!: :!:

This ongoing story is inspiring. GLad you got to only wear it once!

Wow, your investiture is VERY late compared to most conferences/churches.

We have an incoming pathfinder that might cause us to lose a pin! Please pray for her, the name is Maria. I hope to soon be able to add a story of our own to this :D

And yeah... investiture was kinda late, we thought ours was late at the first week of June!

Yes it is late in the year, but this club always waits until the very end.
They have a cardboard boat race in June and they want to wait until after the race so they can hand out the trophies during investiture.
It also spreads the schedule out in my area which helps.

Mr Mike
