I've been helping to translate some materials for the Ukrainians in the Southern Conference, and have come across an interesting.

When given a list of Bible verses to memorize you are allowed to choose which ones you will memorize. What is strange is that some of the Bible texts seem to either been in the wrong category, or completely out of there. I certainly wouldn't be encouraging my Friend unit (that's actually the only one I've translated, thus far) to be reading anything from Song of Solomon, yet (meaning they are a bit young, in my opinion, to understand/appreciate/not make a big deal about certain parts of that text. I actually am not the counselor that normally teaches or arranges for the scriptural memorization to be done. Therefor, it has been a little while since I read what texts they must read or memorize, but some seemed awful strange for the selected category or age group.

I'd like some help with understanding this.

The only thing from Song of Solomon I could find in the Friend requirements was SoS 8:7 in the Self Control section (also called "Being in Charge"). That's for reading, not for memorization. Having read the text, I can't explain why it belongs in the Self-Control section either, but neither did I find anything that would send a 10 year-old into giggling fits.

Is there another scripture assignment (reading or memorization) from SoS that I missed?

Sorry. It was reading, I just don't have the texts in front of me to remind me exactly what and why I was asking this question. Probably, I read around the text for greater context, thus got to the other sections of the book. I'll have to look at it and compile a proper list of what texts I had questions on. Mostly, it was confusion about why a specific text was in that section. Some of them just don't seem to fit into the sections they are under.

I went through one time and did a side-by-side comparison of the readings for the Voyager class from three different sources: 1) The activity diary, 2) the AY class instructor's manual, and 3) the NIV Pathfinder Bible (purple-ish cover, had pages with the readings for all the classes). There were a number of discrepancies. Some of the texts that didn't make sense were simply the wrong reference, which was correct in a different source. There were also some problems with Phil. being an abbreviation for Philippians vs. Philemon. ... I wonder if I still have the file anywhere...

The list I was looking at was from the my AY Instructor's Manual. If you still have that document, I'd love a copy.

After I posted that, I looked through the computer that I'm pretty sure it would be on and didn't have any luck finding it. I also just went through my email and didn't find it. I think it was 4 years ago that I did that. Too bad it's not around anymore.
