I played a little with one of my friend's single speed sprinting bike one time. It was really weird and fun at the same time.

Well... I was thinking of getting a beater and making it a single speed to ride around campus so I don't have to worry about my nice bikes evolving.... (growing legs and walking off)

Yea an older bike is definitely better on a college campus. Functionality is the only important thing. A single speed would work great I'm sure. It would require less upkeep, and still get you to class. If you really want to be in style get one of those old cruiser. It makes me laugh every time i see a college student riding one.

no... I'd rather have a track bike or a SS Mountain bike... no cruiser's for me.. I just don't like how they feel to ride...

True i don't think i would like it for an everyday bike either. Yea, just a good used bike that looks unobtrusive, but works good would be the perfect college bike.

haha... I like the walmart bike idea. They are kinda shiny when new though so they could walk off also. Your right it wouldn't last long, I'm sure you'll find a good bike rider.

Thats a good idea! It would be fun to build a bike from scratch. I'll have to try that some day. We should make an adv. adv. biking honor. Where it is required to build a simple bike from scratch!

It actually wouldn't be that hard... I've built bikes before, it's actually really fun!

I have decided to steal one of my friends bikes over christmas and rebuild it... her bike makes horrible noises and doesn't have rear brakes... I think it'll be fun! I'm looking forward to rebuilding a bike from scratch!

This is post 800 for me!!!!

Yeah, you probably do.... I think I'm gonna repaint the frame... and just thinking about it... I can get a brand new frame for $50... I might just really start from scratch... who knows... it'll be a fun christmas break for me!

check and see if the pads are aligned with the rim. if they are, then make sure that there is still enough rubber on the pads that it's not metal scraping on metal... if all that checks out, make sure that the front part of the brake pad touches the rim before the back of the pad..

let me know if that doesn't work

Yea, just think rider if the biking thred in the teen zone was deleted. We both would have a lot less posts. :P Yea, building the bike from scratch sounds like a lot of fun.
