We can't seem to decide on the exact placement of the union and conference patch on the Left Sleeve. The NAD guidelines do not even mention a union patch.

Some in our club have the Conference Patch and Union Patch basically touching or even stitched together. They claim that is what some conferences do (Georgia Cumberland).

Some in our club have 1/2" space between the Conference Patch and Union Patch and claim that is they way it is in their home conference (Greater New York Conference).

All agree that the Pathfinder World Emblem is 1/2" below the Union Patch.

I even heard that some conferences ask for the Union Patch to be on the sash only, and not on the sleeve.

What is the right way, and what should do? We want to be perfect even as our heavenly Father is perfect...

If we can't unify on our uniforms we need more prayer...

Northern New England has the two touching. But each Union has the authority to say how they want it. You should check with your Union office (or with your conference office - they should know too).

The argument for having them touching is that it's the only way you can fit everything else on a short sleeve shirt. But it sounds like the last thing you want is an argument - and I don't blame you!

The Georgia-Cumberland Conference (maybe the Southern Union) has a very unique patch. Previously, the Union patch was only about an inch in height, and the Conference patch just fit directly on top of it (the Conference patch only being 1.5 inches). What this did was to create a single patch (when put with conference patch) that fit at about the same size as the standard sized conference patch. Currently, the Georgia-Cumberland Conference has been producing it's conference patch with both parts (Conference above Union) into a single patch. It still fits in the same space as my old Texas Conference patch. Therefore, I've never had any issues with extra patch size. Speaking of Texas, we never put a Union patch on our uniform. I am not sure where to even get one. I'd guess that it would have gone on the sash.

However, as jomegat has stated, contact your conference and/or union office to get the correct information.

Like all other parts of the uniform (as well as march and drill, and other necessary modifiable parts of Pathfinders), the General Conference sets up very broad guidelines for such things. The divisions usually create the specific standard rules for their areas (easier in the NAD, as it's mostly the USA & Canada), based on government(s) policies and cultural tradition. The unions have further ability to format such things to fit the scope of those in their area (with a better working knowledge of laws and cultural specifics). Finally, the conferences/missions have the most direct regulation on such matters, because they deal with only one specific area, and can focus on the needs of their constituents without as much difficulty due to worry over a broader group of people.
In summery, check with your conference to see what their guidelines are. If they don't specifically have one, then they are, by default, following the higher office's guidelines. Work your way up the chain until you find the answer you are looking for.

Southern New England has them 1/4" apart with union under the conference.
