What do you mean by "One of them"? Thanks for those links. I looked through all of the websites, but sometimes I miss items.

Well, being as though I can't go because of my leg, I am kind of jealous. Well, not really, just sad to miss out on the excitement. Have fun!

If I go, I know I will. I know you would enjoy it.

We are evaluating purchasing new tents.

Our typically camping conditions are mild temperatures and a half day of rain. In the fact the joke in our part of the world is if you need rain send the pathfinders on a camping trip.

Our Club has some early 2000's REI Geo Dome tents... unfortunately they don't make those any more...

However, we just replaced some staff tents last year and we got the REI Base Camp Tent. (not sure if it is the 4 or 6 man version)

Rider1000,
Have you ever thought about doing a burrito with your Pathfinders?

For others interested...
A burrito is a tarp that is folded in such a way as to be fairly water resistant. This can be done individually, or as a group. The group advantage is shared body heat. Disadvantage would be noise.

One trip where we were camping in some very rustic cabins, the boys were complaining about being cold. (don't know about the girls) They were squeezed in tight side by side, so we made a modified burrito by laying a tarp over them and tucking it in at the edges. At some point in the night, they became warm enough to want to remove the tarp...

I have thought about it... but not sure how well it would work with my kids... they are at that age where it is "weird" to be close to other guys. I however think that it is a great way to sleep!

Look at my post on Page two of this discussion for info on the tents my club has. They are definitely perfect for bad weather. They last a very long time, but are a big investment. Cabela's Alaskan Guide

I am also using a Coleman tent since a long time and it works great. Gives me a great deal of comfort.
