For the last couple of years we have been using a second ground cloth under our tents.
We now put down a very cheap plastic drop cloth (udner a dollar) on the ground and cover it with our normal heavy plastic tarp and then put the tent on the tarp.
The cheap plastic drop cloth gets all the dirt from the ground.
The drop cloth is single use and the wet dirt that sticks to the drop cloth is thrown away with the drop cloth.
The normal ground cloth is much easier to clean and pack.
This method saves us a lot of time when breaking camp because cleanup of the ground cloths is easier.

Mr. Mike

What a fabulous idea, this will make my life and breaking camp for the Pathfinders so much cleaner and easier.

We typically use 9x9 tarps or heavy duty black plastic. On the day we break camp we have the kids stuff the tents into black trash bags and the ground cloths get folded up wet and all.

Once we arrive back at our church:

We setup the ground cloths in the sun on the parking lot, they dry quickly and we just sweep them off.

The tents are setup in our church gym to dry out for a couple of days and then the kids roll them back up and put them away properly.

That would be a good idea. I'll have to tell my clubs directer.
