I do not know under what topic this would be, so I post the question in here.

I was asked, 'How many US Flag should be display off front if the Pathfinders and Adventurers have a combined program?' I said just one US flag. She then asked, is there something written about been just one and not more than one?

Then, my question to you. It is permitted more than one US flag be display on the pulpit? If so, is there a link somewhere that I can send to the person?

Hi Betsy,
Good question! So far I have not seen anything regarding displaying multiple US flags. I think about our Pathfinder Fairs and Camporees where each club has a display of the US flag. The key to answering this question likely resides in how many display areas there are. If you are talking about up at the front of the church then I would definitively answer "one". Using any national gathering as an example, there is only one US flag displayed, despite the many organizations that are present.

I know we teach our young people how to respect and display the national flag in both Adventurers and Pathfinders, and the question may come from the desire for the adventurers parade and display the flag as the pathfinders do. However, I don't think the adventurers do march and drill as in Pathfinders. If this is the case I would defer to the pathfinders, giving adventurers something to look forward to.

The absense of a stipulation regarding multiple US flags in one display may be eloquence enough. Here is a link to official display rules. http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/faq.htm

Hi Ken,

Thanks. After I go home I found the same link that you show below. Yes, I was talking about up at the front of the church. After she saw the link and read it, she believed me when I said only one.

One Club, one flag.
In this case on national flag, one Pathfinder flag, one Adventurer flag, one Christian flag, and possibly one AY flag if your club goes back far enough to have one around.
