I was looking at the Master Awards. Deciding if I had completed any in the last 3 years. I have the Recreation Master. It is not listed on the website. Was this just overlooked or did they replace this when they re-organized the Honors a few years ago. If it is not longer available, is it still allowed on my sash?

Antiquated items are still allowed on your sash as well as items earned outside this division (normally). Items on the coat and shirt are a bit different.

NAD does not have a Recreation Master in the 2001 Handbook (the one from reorganization). The General Conference which carries much broader options to be adopted and used by Divisions at their discretion still lists the Recreation Master. I am sure I do not know why NAD chose not to continue it, my speculation is that is it too broad a catagory to truly merit a Master Award today.

I thought of this question now that HPD25 has me thinking about honor updates.

Becuase some Master Award requirments have changed at the update, how do I (we) having earned these awards many moons ago display an indication that I (we) have earned the updated version as well? Would it be appropriate to add a star to the patch like the new advanced honor system or possibly along that line an oak leaf or an arrow head? (as examples)

Has anyone addressed this question yet at the conference, union, or division committee levels?

For those who are not sure why I am asking. The Naturalist Master for example used to be (about half used to be) earn seven honors in this catagory, today the list is narrowed significantly requiring a much more specific list of honors.

I have encounterdd the same problem. last year, i was two honors away from WIlderness master, then they changed the requirements for almost all the Master honors. I am going to see if it can be 'grandfathered"...

Grandfathering is considered "legal" in most conferences. I would quickly finish the remaining two honors before this reasonable "grandfather period" logically expires.

Also, once you earn a patch, honor, or award it cannot be "removed" regardless of rule changes.

These issues have not been discussed, largely because of the avg. 4 yr. turnover of most staff and the 2-3 years we typically have Pathfinders. Therefore, there are VERY FEW cases statistically that this occurs.

Basic common sense at a local or conference level is usually sufficient.
