Since this is my first year as a director, I was curious what some other groups have done for investiture. This group has 6 active members. Thanks for any hints or tips or instruction available!

We pretty much follow the program outlined in the staff manual.

But here are a few tips that I don't think are in there:

We staple all the insignia a person has earned to a piece of colorful card stock and give that to each Pathfinder. We label the back of each one with a list of what's stapled to the front so we can read it off when we call the person up. It looks nicer than a plastic baggie, plus it keeps it all together nicely. If I can find the energy, I will also make up a slide show to show the honor patches each person has earned - that way the audience can get a good look at the patches too.

We also have a slide show to recap the year's highlights. We end by announcing the Pathfinder of the Year.

Some of my clubs has done what Jomegat is talking about, and it make it easier for me. Also, at the end the director always give me a copy of the DVD.

Also, I usually ask one of the kids to talk about something that got their attention. That way the church members knows what they are learning. One club also did a Puppet skit since they did the Puppetry honor.

Thank you for the ideas. This sounds like a good idea to let the friends and family know what is going on also.
Thanks

Yes, welcome to the forum, Gods_servant! Hope you find it as helpful and fun as I have!

Jomegat was talking about stapling each Pathfinder's honors to a piece of cardstock. Along those same lines, my club staples each Pathfinder's honors to a piece of ribbon 1-1/2 inches wide, the appropriate color for each class (blue ribbon for Friends, red for Companions, etc.). We staple a little piece of paper with the Pathfinder's name and list of honors/awards to the top. Next comes the pin, chevron, and name strip for the class they achieved. After that there may be a small baggie with the advanced stars or teaching diamonds to attach to honors. Then, of course, there is a string of the honors they earned filling up the rest of the ribbon.

After investiture we always have a reception with cookies, cake, juice, etc.

We've held our last couple at the beach. We invite all the parents, and follow the investiture with a picnic.
It's great fun, and keeps the kids outdoors.

Well Gerald, what a great idea. Maybe I can mention that to my directors. Of course, the outdoor here would be in a park.

My club's investiture is almost exactly like tuningpeg571. The only real difference is that we put the advanced stars (and/or teaching diamonds) on the patches before attaching them to the ribbons.

Our club usually will have tables in the same room as the reception that shows what each unit has done during the year as well as a year end picture video. Each unit will usually provide at least one contribution the the ceremony (skit, special music, etc). And, of course, we always invite all family to come to the ceremony.

I used to do that when I was a director. Some of my area clubs do that. Also, do the Investiture during the 11:00 a.m. service.
