Please do! I need a few more to share with my kids, and I'm running out of ideas!

That would be awesome Mark. That way it would be in a place well known in the pathfinder community. It should not take long to put it together, just compiling the information from various sources will take the longest.

Post subject:  Our Club Favorites

I am our club's Drill Master. Here are some of our favorite cadences:

Get our of the way, we're comming through
and if you don't we'll stomp on you.
So make a hole and make it wide
cause Pathfinders are marching by.

Pick 'em up and put 'em down
We'll be marching round and round
Body straight and shoulders square
Marching proud and with a flair.

Bertha and Betsy came to town,
Coca Cola turned them down,
Pepsi Cola burned them up,
Now they're drinking seven-up.
Sound off.....

This one is our Personal Favorite for when our Area Coordinator comes to do our annual inspections!!

(are coordinator's name) is here today,
He'll inspect the troops then go away.
Please (name), won't you stay!
We don't want you to go away!
Sound off....

Have fun!

My clubs version of the one nw pathfinder was talking about.

We left our cook at camp in the kitchen with 48 kids in a starving condition without any ginger bread left.... left.... left right left....

anyway, if you can get it down it works out really good.

That is a fun little one Shauna. I never really learned to march with cadences.

The Pathfinder website would potentially be willing to offer a free PDF download booklet if you were needing a place to host it. . . . :)

Oh yes!! I would love to see something like that. :P

Here's one I learned at camp, but could be applied to Pathfinders:

Hold your head and hold it high,
Pathfinders are marching by.
Hold your head and hold it high,
Pathfinders are marching by!

Standin' tall and lookin' good,
We are a marching Hollywood.
Standin' tall and lookin' good,
We are a marching Hollywood!

It does have a tune to it, but you could just use it as a regular cadence count... 8)

Here's a cadence I've used with my club.

When I was a young boy,
My Mama told me,
Go to the Drug Store,
To get what I need,

I bought me a Yo-Yo,
Wound it up tight,
I Yo-Yo'd in the morning,
Broke it that night,

Woo, can't you Yo-Yo,
Yo-Yo like me,
I'd Yo-Yo like you,
If you knew what to do, (repeat chorus again)

I've substituted Playstation - Hocked up it right
Skate board - Laced my shoes tight,
New bike - with more than 1 speed, raced it in morning,
crashed it at night.

The kids seemed to like this one.

Here is the only one that I have ever experienced personally.

Left, Left, Left, Right, Left

Pick 'em up, Pick 'em high
Pick 'em up and shout out
Left, Left, Left, Right, Left

I love cadences. I'm poetically inclined and I've been toying with a cadence that is based off the Pathfinder Law, but I haven't got it ironed out yet. Plus, my kids get all embarrassed when I suggest them. How can I show them how cool they are? Anyone have an idea? I really want to get them to call one at a Pathfinder Fair some year.

That might pose a slight problem. Motivations is always a big factor in any event. This is true of drill and marching especially. Ask your members why they are embarrassed by it. Try explaining that cadences make heads turn (when done well) and can cause people to pay better attention to the activity that a drill or marching team is completing.

Thanks. I'm really impressed with the cadences in this thread. Maybe if I show them to my kids they'll get into the spirit. I think part of the problem is that they've never seen any other club call cadences while marching, so they don't realize it's part of drilling.

You could also try, as you talk to each of them individually and discover why they like drill, to find a few that will demonstrate the cadences. If they have a small "routine" that they can act absolutely precision in and you march them to the drill practice without the other knowing what is about to happen, it will have an impact. A practical demonstration of a sort.

That is a really good way to do it Chris. I think I might be able to use that one especially well. Thanks!

Here's a Cadence...

Monkey toes and chicken breath
Monkey toes and chicken breath
"Pathfinders" are the very best
"Pathfinders are the very best
Am I right or wrong
Your right!
Tell me if I'm wrong
Your right!
Sound off
1, 2
3, 4
Bring it on down
1,2,3,4 1,2...34!!

You can put almost anything in the quotes "Your club name", "Your conference", etc, etc
