No spot quite covers international outreach so I will put it here.

The Juniors I work with seem to have trouble grasping just what mission projects are and how hard life can be for truly impovershed people. Some of them view themselves as the truly poor, they watch a bit much tv and think the whole world lives in mansions but them.

Get some one from ADRA to visit your church and speak with them, in their Sabbath School Classes, in the mean time get the "Really Useful Gifts" catalog from ADRA (available on line) and start looking for a fundraisng project for your class. You will be surprised just what you can do as a Pathinder club or unit or Sabbath School group. How for $300.00 you may be able to pay for an entire well to be dug and begin delivering clean water to a village that otherwise has none. Get some background on the ADRA mission where you want to help and have your ADRA guest talk about that particular mission.

You can get them out of their own little worlds if you keep knocking kn the door.

God Bless,

P.S. Did you know that 92% of the donated dollars that go to ADRA make it to the mission field? More than any other organization including the Red Cross/ Red Cresent and Salvation Army. Did you know that ADRA provides many of the same disaster services and is often the agency of the big three (other two listed above) that is in charge of logistics and regional distribution of goods? This means accepting, sorting tagging, boxing, and then shipping the donated goods that all of the groups receive.

Thanks for the idea. I think that our club should do that next year. I would like to get the catalog. Can you give us some contact info for ADRA?

Their web address is http://www.adra.org/site/PageServer. They also have something called the "Do Something Kit" which gives ideas on some projects your club can take on (http://www.adra.org/site/PageServer). The GC YM website also lists the requirements for the ADRA honors which are great for your club to earn and will help with outreach (http://youth.gc.adventist.org/pathfinde ... _ADRA.html).
