I am not sure where to drop this topic.

Has anyone considered this: Most churches have a social committee and a variety of other ministries that do little and focus internally. Most churches are closed until just before and just after church.

Now, I would love to have a place to go with my family when we want to go out and do something that is safe, and Christian. Is it possible for the Pathfinder club and other youth ministries to join with their church social committee and become dedicated to opening the fellowship hall with some kind of semi structured entertainment 'free' once a month? This certainly being open to the community as well should they choose to wander in.

A church that spends all of its time evangelizing usually is not very healthy and no church should ignore its community. The mean is a place where people can go to be around those of like mind or to learn about Christ safely and comfortably. A church that is focused on family will have strong children's and youth ministries and will attract the neighbors like insects to light because there will be something inviting going on there, not once a year at VBS but every week maybe more than one time each week. And it all started with that one night a month rec night...

Just a thought.

God Bless,

I agree: churches, like all people, should have an active social and physical life as well as spiritual.

That would be a good idea and to invite people from the community. Show them that we also know how to have fun. Why invite them only when there is evangelism?
