AdventSource employees, board members, and friends gathered on April 17 to celebrate the grand opening of AdventSource’s new building located on the campus of Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Because of inclement weather the program was held in Union College’s gym. The program was followed with tours of the new facility.
Speakers at the program included Dan Jackson, NAD president; Paul Brantley, Debra Brill, and Alex Bryant, NAD vice presidents; Tom Evans, NAD treasurer; Arnold Trujillo, Pacific Union vice president for ministries; Gary Bollinger, Union College vice president for finance; Tom Lemon, Mid-America Union president and chair of AdventSource’s board of directors; Elaine Hagele, Mid-America Union treasurer; Brad Forbes, AdventSource director; and Judy Glass, AdventSource treasurer. Aleta Hubbard, one of AdventSource’s founders in 1982 and its first director, was also introduced.
The program featured a brief history of AdventSource, information about the building project, a look at AdventSource’s future and the expanded services AdventSource will be able to provide as a result of moving into this new facility, words of appreciation for everyone who contributed to making the building project and ministry of AdventSource a success, and prayers of dedication.
This process began in early 2012 when Union College determined that AdventSource’s space was needed for additional classrooms. On April 9, 2012 AdventSource’s board of directors voted to move forward with plans for constructing a new building.
Because AdventSource provides a significant amount of student labor and other services for Union College, the college wanted to keep them nearby. Union College offered AdventSource the option of a long-term land lease to allow for the construction of a new facility at Prescott Avenue and 51st Street. &
